SIMONA FRILLICI
BRIEFLY MY STORY:
Education: After Classical High School I attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia where I graduated in Painting in 1988 under the guidance of the artist Nuvolo and with a final thesis in Art History with Bruno Corà.
The title of the thesis: From the Informal (in particular Fautrier and Dubuffet) to Gallizio up to Beuys on the line of matter (feminine principle) concentrates in a few lines all my artistic research that began in those years and continued until today.
In 1988 I was chosen to represent the Chair of Painting at the Art Expo in Bari, Italy.

Mute objects, 1998
1998. "Via Bonazzi 5" her first personal show; she realized the installation Muti Objects in a disused shop in the historic center of Perugia. She wanted to involve the casual passer-by in a disturbing perception of the store, usually a commercial space, in this case the installation completely occupied the interior of the store, the shelves and windows outside.
A fixed video camera, located above the shop door, recorded what was happening on the street.
The artist seeks an exchange of visions, between the street passerby, who looks inside the store and at the same time he is "watched" by a hidden camera.

August 5 2006- Madonna of the Veil, 2006
2006 "August 5, 2006 - Madonna of the Veil" Cultural Association Wunderkammern, Spello (Pg); curated by Mara Predicatori; catalog Wunderkammern 2007, 2006, Cultural Association Wunderkammern, Spello 2007 Text by Mara Predicatori
The installation was inspired by a news that she read in the local newspaper: a child died of an electrocution on 6 August 2006. The night before she had received the vision of Our Lady of the Veil or Madonna Morena. The child's father subsequently discovers that Madonna Morena is celebrated in South America on that day: August 5th. On the same date, the artist's mother died.
In the suggestive space of the Wunderkammern Association, a woman white dressed, sitting on a square of white fabric, sat for twenty minutes meditating behind a transparent veil, accompanied by the recorded sound of Tibetan mantras, inducing the audience seated by the other part of the veil to make a dimensional leap from the real to a higher state of consciousness. A work with an image of Madonna of the Veil was exposed and illuminated day and night on the window overlooking the street.

What is art?" TufanoStudio25 Gallery, Milano
In this year she made her first video entitled “What is Art?” (26:14); the video was answer to the invitation to participate at the controversial 54th Venice Biennale / Italian Pavillon / Umbria Region at Palazzo Collicola, Spoleto. In the same year the video was exhibited at TufanoStudio25 in Milan. “What is Art?” this question will be a leitmotif of all her work to follow. In today’ world mystification reigns supreme. “What is Art?” is a question that invites us to investigate within ourselves and to try to identify a path.

2014, Diary of an artist, Kino Cinema , Rome
"Diary of an artist" are six videos (2012/2013); are the final part of a process that I started in 2011, examining the movement of the relation between me and six people / figures of the art system: critic, curator, gallerist, artist . Their names: Bruno Corà, Aldo Iori, Afra Zucchi and Franco Ottavianelli (Wunderkammern Gallery/ Rome), Italo Tomassoni, Gianni Piacentini. Common thread in the choice of six people was the deep knowledge that unites me with every one of them.
The six videos are a single work, vital and mobile, which investigates the people involved, it touches that thin boundary that separates what we think we are (as we see ourselves) from how the Other he sees us. In this case the subject under investigation is the relationship between the artist and those with whom he needs to confront, as they are the link between his inner world and the outside world.
"Diary of an artist" was presented the first time May 7, this year, at the Kino Cinema in Rome. The event was organized by the Galleria Wunderkammern and enriched by a critical essay by Bruno Di Marino.
Performer: Paola Minaccioni. Introduces: Massimo Mattioli.
During the evening I wanted to get out of the projection room, where the six videos have been screened, and I involved the entire space of Kino spreading traces in the form of installations, paintings and performing act.
